 | Tommy Seebach - Du' det dejligste - STEREO Tommy Seebach was one of the most popular singer/song writers in the 70's and 80's in Denmark. Tommy could write pop tunes - catchy pop tunes and he wrote song after song in those years for both himself and other artists. Tommy also competed in the local Eurovision (ESC) 8 times and won 3 of them. The last time he took part in the local ESC was in 1993 with the song 'Under stjernerne på himlen'. He won and came to the internationally ESC, where his song failed - really failed. It became the end of his career, as both his loyal fans and the press turned their backs to him. Tommy started to drink, got divorced and couldn't get a new recording contract. After years of drinking, he managed to get small jobs on bars playing his music. But in 2003 he suddenly got a heart failure and died only 53 years old. Tommy never got the respect he deserved the last years he lived. I have heard he became a bitter man, which is understandable. Here is one of my favourite songs by Tommy. It's called "Du' det dejligste" (You're The Most Beautiful) and has some of the best lyrics ever written in Danish. The lyrics are just SO beautiful and well-written and fits the music perfect. It's from a Danish TV show called Eldorado from 1983. R.I.P. Tommy |
