CSX Q643 heading towards Avon on the Crawfordsville Branch Sub. Train was 124 cars, led by BNSF 1102 (C44-9W), followed by CSX 8776 (SD60M), CSX 2638 (GP38-2), CSX 1534 (GP15-1), and CSX 1513 (GP15T). The Crawfordsville Branch Sub is old P&E trackage that now ends in Crawfordsville, but used to run to Peoria, IL. Foreign power, especially BNSF, is starting to make it onto this subdivision more and more. Service has picked up in recent years with 6-10 trains a day, including Amtrak's Cardinal/Hoosier State.

From 8:45 to 10:00 am on Saturday, June 9, 2007, I was trackside in North East, PA with fellow railfan Tim Sullivan watching trains. CP-Gem to CP-Thorne on the CIOR
While heading west towards Indianapolis we watched a CIOR local as it came through CP-GEM with P&LE power. We raced back to CP-Thorne, but were too late to catch it again there, but we did get a couple other trains there.

UP 4532 East at Rochelle, IL
UP 4532, an SD70M, leads an sd70ace (8384), another SD70M (5079), and a long stack train as it accelerates through the diamonds at Rochelle, IL. It had been waiting on a westbound BNSF intermodal train to get through the diamonds before it could continue east. The horn was shot, sounding nothing like it should have.

BNSF Intermodal at Rochelle, IL
A long BNSF intermodal, with four C44-9W locomotives, passes the railroad park at Rochelle, IL. You can hear the distinctive whine as the train passes that indicates the rails had recently been ground by a rail grinder.

I FOUND THIS TRAIN IN CLERMONT INDIANA JUST OFF THE CRAWFORDSVILLE SUB.IT WAS THE LOCAL WITH HOPPERS AND TANKERS.
CSX Q400 Heavy Freight All EMD Power
CSX 400-14 takes the west leg of the Hyattsville wye at the US1 grade crossing with a 125 car train. Led by CSX sd70ace #4838, CSX GP40-2 #4408 and CSX SD40-2 #8455 this all EMD power looks good heading on to the westbound Capital Sub.
