![]() | Cambridge Economics Students Rush for Books video clip of vacation borrowing on the 13th March 2003, when the Marshall Library issued the record-breaking figure of 1,208 books in one day, more than double the usual number of loans for one day. On the last Thursday in term, students can borrow books for the entire vacation and by the time the Library opens, there is usually a queue of students, stretching across the Sidgwick Site, eager to get into the Library. On March 13th over a hundred students surged into the Library in the first few minutes of opening and it took three members of library staff almost an hour to clear the queue. Most of the 1,208 books borrowed during the day were issued during that first hour. |
