Allegheny Valley Railroad

Title:
Allegheny Valley Railroad

Description:
AVR-3 returns from the daily run to Bruceton, Bridgeville, Canonsburg, and Washington PA. I heard 2005's insane horn about a mile away, and hustled down Streets Run Rd. into Baldwin to get ahead of him and pick out a good spot to shoot from. I had to race through traffic, run across a busy road and balance myself on a wet guardrail, but somehow that kind of stuff always seems worth it. The speed limit here is 25mph, so I was able to beat him to the next crossing and get a shot of the usual handful of idiots who don't know what the flashing red lights mean. AVR-3 is led by 2005 (GP11 ex IC8729) 2004 (GP11 ex IC8753)

Allegheny Valley Railroad along Streets Run
AVR 2007 (GP-11) shuttles a lonely covered hopper upgrade along Streets Run Rd. in Baldwin, PA. This is the mid-day run (AVR-3) southbound from avr's Glenwood yard on the Monongahela River towards the Bruceton interchange with the Wheeling and Lake Erie. I hear him blowing down the four crossings every day while I'm at work, and I couldn't stand it any longer. I HAD to skip out for a while and catch him on video. Fortunately, the AVR is typically friendly to (and tolerant of) compulsive ...
Allegheny Valley RR 3-11-09
Once again, I caught up with AVR-3 on my drive home from work. I had to take the first shot out the window of my car, but got ahead at the next crossing and the ramp up to the bridge over the Monongahela river. Sorry about the wind noise and shakiness. Too much coffee at work today I guess. Led by AVR2004 (GP-11 Ex-IC8753)

AVR-3 - Long Hood Forward - Night Train - Washington, PA
AVR-3 passing the old B&O station on the former W&P Sub on it's way out of Washington on a cold November night. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are at grade crossings. Everyone likes to live on the edge and try and beat the train.
