Three local establishments are among 180 bars and restaurants listed by the Minnesota Department of Revenue as delinquent on taxes. Each is more than 10 days late on filing or paying taxes. Alcohol distributors cannot sell or deliver product to the businesses until they pay up. On the list are Westview Liquors located at 2500 Mendelssohn Ave. N. in Golden Valley; Break-away Bar/Grill located at 4080 West Broadway in Robbinsdale and River Front Bar/Grill located at 9510 West River Road in Brooklyn Park. Brooklyn Center will have an area neighborhood area meeting tomorrow night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kylawn Park. The meeting is an opportunity to meet city officials and staff and learn what is happening in the neighborhood. Applications for Arts for Life in St. Louis Park must be received by Sept. 5. Arts for Life is a scholarship program for St. Louis Park residents who want to grow and develop in the arts but lack the financial resources necessary to do so. The purpose of the program is to fund workshops, lessons, equipment or travel for arts inspired SLP residents who could not pay for these things on their own. In school news, Osseo School District Superintendent Susan Hintz received a positive evaluation from the school board at its meeting on Tuesday, August 18. Out of a 1 to 5 rating, Hintz received an average between 4 and 5 in most areas of her review, according to the School Board Chairperson John Nelson. Built by Hennepin Technical College students and owned by the city of Brooklyn Park a "green" home is for sale on Kyle Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Awaiting its Minnesota GreenStar rating, the home includes seven bedrooms, a porch, deck, three-car garage and more. Marjorie Mangine with the city of Brooklyn Park gives a tour in this second of a two part series.
