Adrian & Blissfield #1752 DT&I Branch - June 2004
Description:
Here is Adrian & Blissfield RR GP-9 #1752 switching the DT&I Branch in Adrian, Michigan. This branch is part of the original DT&I mainline through Adrian. 1752 has been repainted and today is in the A&B green & yellow lightning strip paint scheme. The DT&I opened the Malinta cutoff in 1927, and the use of this line was reduced to a branchline. The line was than bought by the N&W at some point, and was used by them until the mid-80's. The diamonds remained in place across the NYC (LS&MS) line until the mid-90's, when the A&B put the switch in. Not sure how much the A&B uses the branch today, but it is used to interchange grain trains with the Norfolk Southern, which today, the branch connects to on the other end. When it was DT&I it crossed the NS (than Wabash).

 | Street Running: Norfolk Southern ...street running at its finest! In Part I, we see some Norfolk Southern traffic in the small town of West Brownsville, PA. This portion of street running sees some major coal traffic. First, we see NS Dash 9-40cws #9411 & #9321bring a fully-loaded coal drag into town. Then, NS es40dcs #7651, 7652, & #7667 take empty hoppers south out of town. Stay tuned for Part II, where we'll see some CSX traffic on the line.  | Northbound CN 783 Loaded Coal Train to South Yard (November 23, 2009) Here we see a NB CN 783 loaded coal train on the DT&I going to South Yard. We waited 6 hours for this train to start moving. The lead unit was a BC Rail 4602, and has a VERY VERY VERY LOUD HORN!! It also has 4 ditch lights seen in the video. |
