Dry and Dropper - Caddis Larvae, Pupa, Elk Hair Caddis Fly
This video takes a look at some caddis larvae and pupae (the real thing!) as well as showing a great method (the dry and dropper) to use the next time you are out on the river. The dry and dropper method is very useful when you can see rising fish but aren't sure if they are taking emergers, taking flies right off the surface. Fly Fish Ontario TV - www.flyfishontario.ca
CADDIS FLY LARVAE
The leaves floating in the middle of the picture are in fact the case of a Caddis Fly larvae (Glyphotaelius pellucidus - I think ?). Watch closely and you will observe the Larvae emerge from his case and swim down to the rock beneath. This Caddis Fly larvae makes his case out of circular peices of leaves glued together into a tube and lives in still water such as ponds. There are tadpoles swimming around in the background. At the end one of the tadpoles bumps into the caddis fly.
Bali Insect
Looks like a small thorn. When knocked over, something would climb out and lift the thorn back up then attach to the surface it was on. Found on a hostel bed up near a volcanic lake in Bali. Possibly of the trichoptera family.

well since my last tank update I have cleaned out my tank completely as there was a big snail infestation. There is new gravel and new plants which are plastic (i cant be bothered looking after plants now)as well as a new tree root ornament.I have also got 3 new fish so here qare all my fish so far: trichopterus- NEW the big male T.trichopterus with the pointy dorsal. trichoptera- name change because shes female.didn't need to before though but now i do so i did.the smaller opaline T.trichopterus cellerime- the orange male x.helleri perspicuus- the white/orange male x.helleri the gemini- NEW the two S.nigriventris.These upside-down catfish are SUPPOSED to live up to their name so don't worry.
