Sunday, October 19th. A Reading & Northern autumn leaves special out of Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe, PA. And return trip. The 425 barks out of Jim Thorpe bound for Port Clinton, the stack talk was phenomenal! Not to mention the beautiful three chime step top Jersey Central Whistle reproduction. Sounding like a locomotive twice her size (and with assistance from a lone SD50), Reading and Northern 4-6-2 425 pulls a 14-car excursion from Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe PA. As always, 425 is working hard with incredibly LOUD stack talk. The engine crew was fighting a constant battle to keep the power to the rails as 425 slips numerous times (quite violently towards the end of the video) on the climb from Port Clinton to the ex-CNJ part of the line at Haucks. May 10, 2008: She is fully painted and looks amazing! Witness RBMN 425 thunder out of the R&N yard in Port Clinton on her test run up towards Jim Thorpe. The first few minutes of the video, 425 is being prepared for her run, then 425 is coupled up to the coaches. The sounds are awesome, I love that 6'er and the bell is grand. And last, but not least... a runby as 425 leaves Port Clinton. ENJOY!

#425 steams up once again with a whole new look, including a new bell, a centered headlight and new number plate - not to mention glossy coat of bright blue paint! The engine performs a final test run with a private train before hauling excursions later in June. Special Thanks goes out to Kyle Sanders for helping me chase this train. Simultaneous honking of my Leslie Tyfons 300 and 425, for the full laker sound. The horns blow approximately 106 and 64 Hz in this clip, which is musically a major 6th interval. Combined, the horns weigh over 800 pounds. In this clip, the 120 gallon tank starts at 165 psig, and by the end of the last toot, it's down to 48 psig.

After 11 years, 425 is finally up and running once again. This being a test run, the engine is not fully painted yet. A big thanks goes out to all those who made this restoration possible!

On October 25th, 2008, 425 hauled a group of railfans along the R&N's system from Port Clinton to as far as White Haven, stopping for photo runbys along the way. The weather was wet, cold, and miserable, but it made for many interesting scenes of steam working hard in the rain.
