On Feb. 18, 2008, UP operated an SAVBL inspection train powered by DDA40X 6936. This video shows it between Houston and Bloomington, TX.

Union Pacific's last operating 8-axle giant, EMD DDA40X #6936, leads a business & inspection special westbound across Wisconsin. The train is seen first at County Highway A/G in the town of Brooks, then coming into Adams at the Main Street crossing, and finally leaving the yard for points west. Video by my dad.

I caught the UP Special & 6936 at Elkhorn Slough, just a few miles south of Watsonville, CA. I met other railfans there, including YouTubers BNSFBJ, meyer8400, and ssloansjca.

The UP Engineering Special moves through Saint Paul, MN on April 17, 2008. Power for this train was the UP 6936 (EMD DD40X). This was really fun to see despite the gloomy weather on this evening.

When Union Pacific vice president Bill Wimmer travelled to Chicago to receive an industry award, he exercised his exeuctive privileges and powered his private train with Union Pacific's Heritage Centennial DDA40X diesel locomotive. The train is shown on its return trip inMaywood, IL, March 21, 2007.

The private Union Pacific passenger special that brought their vice president of engineering to Chicago for an award ceremony now begins the trek back to Nebraska, with heritage unit 6936 in the lead. 6936 is the last of UP's dual engined diesels with 6600 horsepower dating from 1969.

Just west of Kansas City, a nice slow rollby offers a good look at the DD40 and nice view of the passenger cars. But oh gawd what an awful horn, that S3LR should be put out of it's misery. Taken 15April 2008

Union Pacific DDA40X Centennials 6936 and 6946 back to back in Portola 09/2009. 6936 is running and that is what most of this video is of. I walk by 6946 once and the sound you hear is from a running locomotive behind me, not 6946.

My uncle, Mr. Rip, and myself decided to head to Colorado on a road trip this week to see the 844 and 6936 on the S CYDV-16. Cheyenne to Denver. But..thats not all we got! We got more than we ever bargand for. There is 3 parts to this road trip as we totaled 2500miles, over 30 hours of driving, andonly about 4 hours of sleep.
