Andersonville Prison was one of the most atrocious prisons of the Civil War. It would not be suprising that the former site is rumored to be unbelievably haunted. We tracked down a re-enactors ghostly experience and may have also found the source of the roadside ghost that roams the highway.

The Andersonville trial took place in 1865. Henry Wirz, commander of the infamous overcrowded Confederate Andersonville prison, where thousands of Union prisoners died of exposure, malnutrition, and disease, was the defendant and was allowed a defense attorney in a military court-martial. After the defense had proven innocence or doubt on all charges, the prosecution could only make a case against Wirz by focusing on his following the orders of his superiors instead of following his own ...

Mark Boyer and Joe Askins of YoChicago.com don't spend much time up in Andersonville, so they drove around the Far North Side neighborhood for a little while in July 2008 to get a look at the types of homes and stores that are found around there.

Local resident Maggie Finegan talks about changing demographics and recent trends in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood

our visit to Andersonville, GA, location of one of the largest military prisons during the Civil War. It was a Confederate prison, where they held captured Union soldiers. In its lifetime, 45000 soldiers passed through its gates. Of those numbers, 13000 died. Aside from the location of the POW camp, there is also the National POW Museum, and the Andersonville National Cemetery. We visited all of these sites, and this is our tribute to them.

Top floor Andersonville two bedroom. Heat & water are included in this vintage apartment. Decorative fireplace, ceiling fans in most rooms, the new windows, updated eat-in kitchen, bright sun porch. This is one of several similar apartments at the corner of Glenwood and Argyle. There is a coin-op laundry room in the basement. This building is dog and cat friendly, with a maximum of 2 pets or 100 lbs of animal.
