A brief introduction to the history and winemaking techniques of d'Arenberg

The Dead Arm" beschreibt eigentlich die in Weinbergen mit alten Rebstöcken weit verbreitete Krankheit Eutypa Lata. Bei dieser Krankheit sterben "Arme" der Reben ab, mit dem Ergebnis das die anderen Arme unglaublich konzentrierte und aromatische Trauben hervorbringen. Dieser Wein kränkelt in keinster Weise, sondern ist einer der hochdekoriertesten australischen ShirazWeine. Die Trauben kommen von uralten Reben und nach der schonenden Pressung in der Korbpresse und nach Beendigung der Gärung reifte der Wein für 22 Monate in Barriques aus französischer und amerikanischer Eiche. Der Wein hat ein unglaublich konzentriertes Bukettmit Aromen von Heidelbeeren, Brombeeren, Plaume, Pfeffer, Tabak, Vanille, Zeder, Mokka, florale Noten, mineralische Akzente und ledrige Noten. Am Gaumen ist der Wein opulent, samtig, tiefe Fruchtaromatik unterstützt von würzigen und mineralischen Noten, viel reifes Tannin, beeindruckend vielschichtig und mit fast endlosem Nachhall ausgerüstet.

Here's some footage of me riding through the Forest of Arenberg. This was by far the highlight of my trip to the 2008 Spring Classics. The forest is absolutely demonic. Now just imagine the 200+ riders in the pro peloton riding full speed in the mud and rain!!!!!
