Festivals In Shirdi - Ramnavami (Sri Rama Navami) - Part-1

In 1897, Gopalrao Gund proposed holding in Urus as in expression of his gratitude to Baba for having been granted the birth of a son after many childless years. Baba gave his permission for the celebration and fixed the day for Ramnavami. This was an ingenious touch of Baba's. Urus is a Muslim festival honoring a Muslim Saint( usually one who passed away); by holding the Urus, on the day of a Hindu festival, the two communities were brought closer tighter in a natural yet remarkable way. Things were going on in this way and the fair was gradually increasing in importance till 1912. When a change took place. That year one devotee Mr. Krishnarao Jogeshwar Bhishm came to the fair, he was staying in Dixit Wada. A new thought arose in his mind and he costed a letter thus. There is some provindential arrangement in the fact that the Urus or fair is celebrated in Shirdi on the Ram Navami day. The Ram Navami day is very dear to all the Hindus then why not begin the Ram Navami festival the celebration of the birth of Shri Ram on this day here. Kaka Mahajani liked the idea and it was arranged to get Baba's permission in this matter. Bhishm solved the difficulty of Kritan by saying that his Ram Akhyan, the composition on Rama's birth was ready and he would do the Kritan himself while Kaka Mahajani should play on the harmonium. It was also arranged to get ' Suntharwada' (ginger powder mixed with sugar) as Prasad prepared by Radhakrishnamai. So the went to masjid to get Baba's permission Bhishma explained the idea of celebrating Ram Navami festival and asked for Baba's permission and Baba gladly gave it. All rejoiced and made preparations for the Jayanti festival. Next day the masjid was decorated. A cradle was supllied by Radhakrishnamai and placed in front of Baba's seat and the proceedingstated Bhishma stood up for Kritan and Mahajani played on the Harmonium. Baba took a garland form the 'Nimber' and placed it round his neek and sent another for Bhishma. Then the Kritan commenced. That day's programme including Mahapuja and Arti was Finished. Later on Mr. Mahajani asked Baba for permission to remove the cradle. Baba refused the same saying that the festival was not yet finished. Next day another Kritan and Gopalkala ceremony was performed and the Baba allowed the cradle to be removed. While the Ram-Navami Festival was thus going on, the procession of the two flags by day and that of the sandal by night, went off with the usual pomp and show. From this time onwards the Urus of Baba was transformed into the Ram Navami Festival and began to grow gradually year by year, Radhakrishnamai started Naam-saptah. 'Shirdi' looked like a behive of men. It is to be noted that both the Hindus and Mohammedans have been working together in both the procession during the entire festival and there has been no confrontations or quarrel between them at all so far. In Shirdi, two locally historic rituals are carried out during this festival: the sack of wheat that is kept in Dwarkamai is changed and the old one taken to prasadalaya to be used there, and secondly, the dwarkamai flags are replaced. When Urus was first celebrated, Gopalrao Gund prevailed upon his friend to supply a flag for the procession. This was Damu Anna Rasne of Ahmednagar who had similarly been blessed by Sai Baba with Son's having come to Baba for this Purpose on the recommendation of shama's father -- in -- law .In addition, Gund asked Nanasaheb Nimonkar to supply a second flag with embroidery. This was also done and both flags (described as "huge" by M. W. Pradhan, who saw them) were taken in procession through the village and fixed the two corners of Dwarkamai. Descendants of these two devotees continue this tradition and flags are brought and offered at Baba's Samadhi before being taken on a grand procession. Various religious activities are arranged Great number of people flock to Shirdi during this Festival. (Ref. T-90

http://www.aviationlive.org Online Aviation Pics,Videos and Forum The T-90 is the newest main battle tank (MBT) in service with the Russian Ground Forces. It is a further development of the T-72, with some of the features from the T-80. This new variant of the T-72 was originally called T-72BU but after poor performance of the T-72 in combat in the Persian Gulf War (especially against western tanks such as the M1 Abrams, M60 Patton, Challenger 1) and in the First Chechen war it was decided to rename it to improve its chances on the export market. The T-90 with an 840 hp (630 kW) engine went into low-level production in 1993, based on a prototype designated T-72BU. The T-90 was developed by Russia's Kartsev-Venediktov Design Bureau at the Uralvagonzavod factory in Nizhny Tagil. The T-90 features a new generation of Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor on its hull and turret. Two variants, the T-90S and T-90E, have been identified as possible export models. By September 1995, some 107 T-90 tanks had been produced, located in the Siberian Military District. 1999 saw the appearance of a new model of T-90, featuring the fully welded turret of the Obyekt 187 experimental MBT instead of the original T-90's cast turret. This new model is called "Vladimir" in honour of T-90 Chief Designer Vladimir Potkin, who died in 1999. It is unknown how this design affects the protection and layout of the turret, or whether the tank's hull armour layout was changed. Currently, there are 241 T-90 tanks serving in the Russian Ground Forces's 5th Guards Tank Division, stationed in the Siberian Military District, and seven T-90 tanks in the Navy. On May 15, 2006, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Belousov announced that along with other purchases, some thirty new T-90s will be produced for the Russian Army. The T-90S version is in service with the Indian Army, and the local production of T-90S Bhishma tanks will start in India in 2006--2007?? Bhishma (also spelt as Bishma) is a character from the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. In 2001, India bought 310 T-90S tanks from Russia, of which 120 were delivered complete, 90 in semi-knocked down kits, and 100 in completely-knocked down kits. T-90S were made by Uralvagonzavod and the uprated 1,000-hp engines were delivered by Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. The T-90 was selected because it is a direct development of the T-72 which India already employs, simplifying training and maintenance. India bought the T-90 after the delay in production of the domestically developed Arjun main battle tank, and to counter Pakistani deployment of the Ukrainian T-80UD in 1995--97. The deal between India and Russia, estimated at a value of USD $750 million, also included the complete transfer of T-90 technology and weapon systems to India. With Russian and French assistance, India developed an improved version of T-90S, known as the Bhishma. However, India has reported that problems have arisen with the French-designed thermal sights used on the T-90 due to intense desert heat. In 2006, the Indian Government awarded the Ordnance Factory Board a USD $2.5 billion deal to manufacture 1,000 T-90 Bhishma tanks for the Indian army. On October 26, 2006, India signed another deal with Russia for 800 million USD for 330 T-90S tanks.

Thousand names - Vishnu Sahasranama- Aum Sairam

Though the Lord has innumerable names, the http://akilakalai-shirdisaiandmahavishnu.blogspot.com/ Vishnu Sahasranama which contains a thousand selected names of the Supreme Being, is in the nature of a hymn which can be chanted by all. There is a great secret in it. The sequence of the names of the Vishnu in the verses, in Anushtubh metre has a rationale. Twenty-four names of Lord Vishnu had been incorporated in the three opening verses of the Vishnu Sahasranama. These twenty-four names denote the 24 syllabled Gayatri mantra, each syllable corresponding to a particular name. The name Gayatri connotes that it protects those who chant it. Poperly and regularly only comes later after practise. Hence better try than never. Some could feel that they do not know the correct pronunciation, and so do not want to chant incorrectly. H. J. Achar, in his book "Sri Vishnu Sahasranama - A Study", H.J. Achar, Sharada Press, Mangalore, 1972, has given the analogy of a mother to whom a child goes and asks for an orange. The child does not know how to pronounce the word "orange", and so asks for "ange". The mother does not turn away the child and does not refuse to give the child the orange just because the child does not know how to pronounce the word. It is the spirit or bhava that matters, and so as long as one chants the name of God with sincerity, considerations such as not knowing the meaning, not knowing the pronunciation, etc., do not matter, and God who is the Mother of all of us will confer His blessings on us. In the introductory part of the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram, Yudhishthira asks Bhishma six questions, related to how mankind can attain happiness. These are contained in two stanzas starting with "kim ekam daivatam loke" in the Stotram. These questions are: • Who is the One (Supreme) Deity? • What is the highest goal of life? • By praising which Deity's auspicious qualities will human beings attain prosperity in this world as well as bliss in the next? • By meditating on which Deity will human beings attain prosperity in this world as well as bliss in the next? • By reciting which mantra will man be released from the bondage of the cycle of birth and death? • Of the three means referred to above (i.e., recitation, praise or archana, and meditation), which is the best means for attaining the grace of the Supreme Deity based on your vast experience and knowledge? According to the 149th chapter of Anushāsanaparva in the epic Mahabharata, the names were handed down to Yudihsthira by the famous warrior Bhisma was on his death bed at the battle of Kuruukshetera Yudhisthira asks Bhishma the following questions: kimekam daivatam loke In this universe who is the one Deva of all? (i.e., at whose command all beings function? or who is God of all?) • kim vāpyekam parāyaṇam o Who is the one greatest refuge for all? • stuvantaḥ kam kamarcantaḥ prāpnuyurmānavāḥ subham o Who is the one Divinity by praising and by worshiping whom a man attains good? • ko dharmaḥ sarva dharmāṇām bhavataḥ paramo mataḥ o Which according to you is that highest form of Dharma (capable of bestowing salvation and prosperity on man)? • kim japan mucyate jantuḥ janmasamsārabandhanāt o What is that by uttering or reciting which any living being can attain freedom from cycle of births and deaths?
