A trip up the Steam worked, 2ft 7 1/2 inch, Brienz and Rothorn Mountain Railway, in Switzerland. First part, is from Brienz Station, at an altitude of 1856 ft above sea level, to Planalp, an intermediate station, where the locos top up with water. The engine was built, very recently, in 1996, in a batch of about 4, and joins the other fellow steam engines on the line, some dating from the nineteenth century, and gaining the famous nickname, 'Kneeling Cows'.

Interlaken OST to Brienz. The actual ride took about 75 minutes. Shot on 15th September 2007 (Saturday). Lake Brienz (German: Brienzersee) is a lake just north of the Alps, in the Canton of Berne in Switzerland. The lake took its name from the village Brienz on its northern shore. Interlaken and the villages Matten and Unterseen lie to the south west of the lake. The shores are steep, and there is almost no shallow water in the entire lake. The lake lies in a deep hollow between the village of Brienz on the east and, on the west, Bönigen, close to Interlaken. Its length is about 9 miles, its width 1½ miles, and its maximum depth 856 feet, while its area is 11½ square miles, and the surface is 564 metres (1,850 ft) above the sea-level. On the south shore are the Giessbach Falls and the hamlet of Iseltwald. On the north shore are a few small villages. Its chief affluent is the Lütschine (flowing from the valleys of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen). There have been passenger ships on the lake since 1839. The ships are operated by BLS Lötschbergbahn, the local railway company. There are five passenger ships on the lake. Interlaken Ost (East) is the main station in the town of Interlaken in the Swiss canton of Bern. Honda X-Eleven X11 Inti - Brienz

Brienz Rothorn Bahn in Switzerland. This is a narrow gauge steam hauled cog railway which starts from Brienz, a picturesque town on lake Brienz. Steam Engine was made by Swiss loco works SLM of Winturthur and is designed to climb the steep 1 in 12 gradient.

On a weekend in April 2007, my girlfriend and me decided to do a weekend trip from Lucerne to Grindelwald (Switzerland). Using my parent's car, we made the way from Lucerne to Grindelwald within a few hours. During the car ride to Grindelwald, we stopped at several places to have a rest or to enjoy the beautiful scenery. One of our stops was in Brienz, a small town having around 3000 inhabitants and which is located on the north bank of Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. Brinz town alos lies on the railway route Lucerne-Interlaken, which is run by the Zentralbahn railway company. The company runs narrow gauge railways (Switzerland boasts an extensive network of metre gauge railwas, most of them concerntrated in the more heavily mountainous areas) and starting from Lucerne, the trains of the Zentralbahn need to pass the Brünig pass (1008 m / 3300 ft) using cogwheel. This video shows the arrival of the Zentralbahn train in Brienz, after having passed the Brünig pass.
