CSXT Q400

2:44 PM CSXT Q400 aka "The Powerhouse" rolls northbound with a pretty good sized train. He had 6 engines on him. This manifest train is known as "The Powerhouse", because he shuttles a large amount of locomotives (usually between 5 and 13 units) to the north. Nice K5HL on the lead unit. Note that the train begins to slow down towards the end as he approaches Downtown Ashland. Recorded 8.14.2009

CSXT Q406 meets Amtrak P053

5:26 PM Finally, something other than a GEVO in the lead! CSXT Q406 heads north with a flared SD70MAC and a somewhat fouled K5LAR24 horn mounted atop. This was a fairly good-sized train, but I have seen him a lot longer than this. 5:28 PM Just as Q406 clears, Amtrak P053, the southbound "Autotrain", reset the gates to their lowered position. The gates didn't even raise all the way by the time this train got here. One of Nathan Hall's buddies is an engineer, and he was at the controls on this ...

CSXT 8577 The Best S5T

CSXT 8577 leads the AINAR thru town. It has a Leslie S5T on it and it is absolutely spectacular. On the heels of the AINAR is a YPB 72. As this train passes, you can see the headlight of the YPB72. Close to the end of the train is a old DTI 86 ft autoparts boxcar. The horn sounded good in the distance as it headed out of town.

Cab Ride Inside CSXT 2475, Part 1

Another cab ride on CSX, this one even better than the last. =D This is CSXT 2475, the first in a series of SD50's to be derated to 3000 horsepower(from 3500) in an attempt to reduce fuel consumption. The new locos are designated SD50-2. I get to hear the engineer start the locomotive, then ride around as he's forming a train from two sidings nearby. It was a really cool experience. Warning: Mild language from the engineer. Haha. XD Be sure to watch Part 2! www.youtube.com...

CSXT Q751

Formerly symboled K951, the eastbound morning Rock Runner is seen on two different days, climbing Barnesville Hill with a GP40-2/RDSLUG/GP40-2 lashup and then a trio of GP40-2s, the leader 6156, a former WM GP40-2. This train runs from the Millville, WV Quarry (owned now by Aggregate Industries) and runs to Bladensburg, MD (a suburb of Washington DC) and then returns. It used to run with a caboose, but unfortunetly this is no longer the case.

Railfanning The Bronx: Marble Hill, NY - Metro North, CSXT

Manhattan, Bronx, whichever you believe it's still a cool place to loose an hour of your life if you like passenger trains and transit action...... And for the record, I do personally believe that I am standing in Manhattan because I am south of 231st St where the Spuyten Duyvil creek originally ran..... Unbelievably amazing Leslie RS3L! Amazing horn show from CSXT 7921 (LMS) as it leads a northbound grain train through the small town of Lagoda, Indiana.

Wow. The Leslie RS3L on this engine had me in awe. CSXT (LMS) C40-8W 7921, an ex-CR locomotive, leads a northbound grain train through the small town of Lagoda, IN., on the CSXT's Monon Subdivision. Filmed on November 29th, 2008.

CSXT's Flyash & Foreign Power in Florida 2005

It wasn't that long ago when CSXT had ample variety running around on its trains. Compare to 2009, there is almost no foreign/lease power in CSXT's Jacksonville Service Lane plus the famous flyash train is no more. Take a look at the year 2005, when you never knew what that lead motor would be.

CSXT Q741

12:01 PM Next up is a short Q741 with intermodal and Tropicana. The lead unit is an ES44AC, which strayed away from its normal duty on coal trains. An extra horn blast was given as he flew past us at about 55 miles per hour. The K5HLL sounds really good on the #880. *This was taken from a hill about 20 feet above the RF&P Sub. Someone needs to come after this hill with a weedwhacker. It's way too good a videotaping location to be covered in weeds. I think I may have gotten a few bugbites ...
