My great movie.

We have a long but brisk day, riding and walking to Cave Junction, where Pat and Clark put Hampton and the rest of us for the night. We will soon shove off for the Redwoods. We hitched a ride with Sandie of Grants, we really thank her for all her help and another bale of great alfalfa. Somewhere along the line I completely missed one of the trucks. I was sure I had them all. And of course, the one I missed was the fastest one out there. It does return in the 5 fastest video to be posted when I get that far.

We took an afternoon tour at Great Cats World Park in Cave Junction, Oregon...and it was amazing!! Craig the Cat Man and his assistants do a fantastic job exhibiting these beautiful big cats...they have raised them since they were cubs. A MUST SEE if you are traveling through Cave Junction! Don't miss this roadside attraction!

We spend some time downtown Cave Junction handing out business cards and passing the word about the Akha. The hotspot in town is Taylor's Sausage Store, lots of yummy cured meats, and lots of friendly bikers and travelers of all sorts. Even the street folks were nice, some went around and gathered money for us. But we had the best care from Clark and Patty Mann at Ol Jo's RV Park, they put up the horse and gave us a place to park.

Video covers 2 days of competition where I've combined the 2 days for each truck. That's where the different angles come from. Some of the trucks have numbers on the side that don't correspond with the numbers used for this competition and that's why the first truck does not have a big "1" on it. Just look for the silver spraypainted numbers. More to follow as there were 38 trucks.

A beautiful drive down US Highway 101 www.us-101.com from Bend OR, crossing into CA & back into OR to Cave Junction, OR. Lost ATT mobile connection, couldn't use Google Maps and missed the turn by about 50 mi but eventually got there with help from my "friends".

While driving up to see the Oregon Caves National Monument (in the SW corner of the state) I came across a series of bizarre fires by the side of the road. I tried to film them but since I was driving, it didn't turn out too well. Still, with the help of slow motion, you can get a sense of what I drove past.

Illinois Valley Fire Department trains on two story in Cave Junction OrEgon. No habitable homes were hurt in this training exercise. First couple of minutes is a little fuzzy, but then I did cram three hours of video into two minutes.

Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD), Josephine County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded on Monday, Aug. 10 to a report of a suspicious package in the foyer at Sterling Savings Bank at the intersection of Redwood Hwy. and Lister Street in Downtown Cave Junction. Video shows OSP's bomb destroying robot retrieving the package and destroying it at a safe location. (Video by Dale & Elaine Sandberg, IVFD Media Dept.)
