'The Hughes Helicopters OH-6A Cayuse (nicknamed Loach) is a single-engine light helicopter with a four-bladed main rotor used for personnel transport, escort and attack missions, and observation. The MH-6 and AH-6 (nicknamed Little Bird) were originally modified OH-6As used for special operations aviation, they have since been developed into single-engine light helicopters with a single five-bladed main rotor, based on the MD 500E. The newest version, the MH-6M, is based on the MD 530F and has a single, six-bladed main rotor and four-bladed tail rotor. VinoVerve's Rory goes to camp again. This time in Walla Walla Washington. Here he learns about the history of the Cayuse Vineyard and its vigneron, Christophe Baron.

Some might say Christophe Baron had rocks in his head to plant Syrah in 1997 in Washington's Walla Walla Valley. But actually, it is the vineyards of Cayuse that are loaded with rocks. As with most of his colleagues, Christophe feels the answer to great wines is to work hard work in the vineyard. But, the weather is a tough variable here in Southeastern Washington. To keep the vines from freezing during the harsh winter, Christophe must bury the vines with rocks and dirt. And, since grafting is a problem because of the cold winters (grafts would have difficulty surviving), all of his vines are all on their own rootstalks. OH-6 Cayuse

Fanned by wind gusts in excess of 65 miles an hour the wildfire on Cayuse Mountain continued to burn throughout Thursday afternoon. KXLY4's John Langeler reports from Tonasket.

It was a windy day, which made filming difficult. We found the bachelors all in one bunch right by the back gate and let Vinnie out of the trailer. He joined them and was soon gone over the hills. We had hoped that he would end up with the weanlings and 2 year olds. They often split by age. Even though Emmett drove all over the large pasture, we never came across him again. We did find a few bunches of bachelors that had split off the original group. The next day, I saw a bunch running among the mare bands. He was probably with them. I was riding Paisano and didn't have a chance to stop and really look to see if he was there. I am sure that he is doing well and I'll be getting updates from Josie. A friend of mine likened this to the end of the movie, Hidalgo, when he was turned loose. It is quite fitting, as Vinnie is the sort of horse that Hidalgo would really have been....

We took part in a driving demo during the SMR's 50th Anniversary meeting at the Cayuse Ranch in Wyoming in June 2007. Paisano was good considering we hadn't been schooling much in long lines for a while. He also had a sunburned nose that was bothering him. He and I both were not used to that altitude and came home with sunburns. He could have paid better attention to me and worked a bit better on bending and such, but I was pleased that he behaved. It was great for him to be exposed to a cart. At first he had to have some good looks at it, but then settled down well. The harnessed horse is Thunderhawk, an SMR gelding owned by Lucy Roda from SD.

My daughter, Gurunam, took over Vinnie's care while he was in the corral at the ranch. He got to hang out with his great grandsire, Chief Masada. I think that Vinnie may end up being her horse. :)
