What does nice really mean, when describing a person? The title "Nice ain't so nice" is a bit of a colloquialism, I know :-)

Scenes from Brundibár, performed by Vienna Boys Choir

This is another DVD extra of Phillippe Reypens' "L'Or des Anges". Note Terry Way among the boys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brundibar Brundibár (Czech colloquialism for a bumblebee) is the name of a children's opera by Jewish Czech composer Hans Krása with a libretto by Adolf Hoffmeister and performed by the children of the concentration camp Theresienstadt in occupied Czechoslovakia. The plot of the opera shares elements with fairytales such as Hansel and Gretel and The Town Musicians of Bremen. Aninka (played by Greta Klingsberg) and Pepíček are fatherless sister and brother. Their mother is ill, and the doctor tells them she needs milk to recover. But they have no money. They decide to sing in the marketplace, to raise the needed money. But the evil organ grinder Brundibár chases them away. However, with the help of a dog, a cat and a lark, and the children of the town, they are able to chase Brundibar away in turn, and sing in the market square. A special performance of Brundibar was staged in 1944 for representatives of the Red Cross who came to inspect living conditions in the camp; what the Red Cross did not know at the time was that much of what they saw during their visit was a show, and that one of the reasons the Theresienstadt camp seemed comfortable, was that many of the residents had been deported to Auschwitz in order to reduce crowding during their visit. Most of the participants in the Theresienstadt production, including the composer Krása, were later exterminated in Auschwitz.

Don't say '[N-word],' Mother. It's vulgar.

SILENT FILM EXCERPT: Here is a scene from Paul Robeson's first film, 'Body and Soul,' directed, written and produced by Oscar Micheaux in 1925. (Micheaux also wrote the novel on which it is based.) Robeson's girlfriend, played by Mercedes Gilbert, wants her mother's permission to marry him. Her mother, played by Julia Theresa Russell, is not impressed and wants to know if he is qualified to support her daughter. After Mom uses the demeaning, pejorative, colloquialism 'niggah,' her more modern daughter suggests, "Don't say 'Niggah,' Mother. It's vulgar."

Michael Jackson Making Of In The Closet Promo Video HD

The song, written by Jackson and Teddy Riley, is about keeping a relationship between secret lovers. It was also Jackson's effort to silence critics who questioned his sexuality. "In the Closet" is an English term which one uses when they are not open about a part of their life. They wish to keep it in the closet or be very guarded. As opposed to British colloquialism, contemporary American vernacular uses the term when one hides their private sex life, especially if it is homosexual. In an attempt to suppress the rumors, the video, directed by Herb Ritts, features Jackson performing sensual and physically complicated dance techniques with model Naomi Campbell. The song's female vocal was originally labeled "Mystery Girl" but was later revealed to be Princess Stéphanie of Monaco. Campbell sings the lyrics for the music video. The song, with its heavy industrial-sounding percussion and uptempo arrangement, is typical of producer Teddy Riley's new jack swing style. The unique, Eastern-influenced backing vocals, crescendoing middle eight imbue the song with an erotic edge usually missing from Jackson's music. His vocals are whispered and subdued for most of the song, embellished with gasps and shudders. It is generally considered one of his most provocative singles with lyrics that include "If its aching you have to rub it". Only in the chorus is his typically soulful falsetto given free rein. Collaboration with Madonna "In the Closet" was originally conceived of as a duet between Jackson and Madonna. According to a 1992 interview with British journalist Jonathan Ross, Madonna claimed she worked on some lyrical ideas for the song but when she presented them to Michael, he decided they were too provocative and she decided not to continue with the project. Remixes In keeping with the trend in the early 1990s, several remixes were commissioned by Jackson and released on a maxi CD. The most prolific of these remixes was "The Promise" remix by UK DJ Frankie Knuckles, which made its way into the club circu

Jumping the shark pt 1

I have been accused of Jumping the Shark with my Mankini Milkshake. From Wikipedia: Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by U.S. TV critics and fans to denote that point in a TV show or movie series' history where the plot veers off into ridiculous story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations, undergoing too many changes to retain the original appeal of the series. The video continues to show footage of the girls on the bus, in dance rehearsals and practicing the song "Stickwitu". Lack of Better Words

This experimental film is inspired by words, namely colloquialism and informal expressions combined with objects found in the supermarket that address the meaning of 'crazy'. It aims to show my way of seeing the absurdity of slang words and phrases in the form of literal depictions of images and texts used as a narrative tool. Starring my elder sister, Quinadia.
