July 17, 2001. Ambush shooting of Columbia Heights Police Officer Micheal McGee by one of his neighbors set-off a 28 minute gun battle in the neighborhood. In the end, two Columbia Heights Officers were shot (Officer McGee & Sgt. Val Dietz) as well as a Minneapolis Police Officer. The suspect was also shot just prior to being apprehended.

Columbia Heights Public Schools has received $150000 through an E2T2 grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. At last night's board meeting, Mary Bussman, Central Middle School principal, and Duane Berkas, director of teaching and learning, said the money will go toward expanding the 2008 engineering program at the middle school. Having lost my portable photo hard disk at the Sunday, 25 May 2008 Black Festival at Francis Field in NW WDC on Friday, 6 June 2008 I'd take the subway to the Best Buy at the USA DC Mall in the Columbia Heights area on NW WDC to purchase a new Scan Disk portable photobank.
