It was likely passed over by the original loggers of the area as it was growing on the edge of an embankment. You can see the springboards the faller was using on the far side of the stump.

For my money, Lee J. Cobb can yell with the best of them. He was a great actor and when he yells he always sounds like his blood pressure is sky high and he is a couple seconds away from dropping dead of a heart attack.
