We were hoping for an epic weekend at Dunlap, CA but turned out to be just an ordinary day. We were scratching most of the time trying to stay at least at launch altitude, 2200 feet AGL. Still a great place to fly. My memory card filled up way before landing. A sudden lateral gust causes a strong pendulum motion followed by a wing collapse shortly after launch while paragliding in Dunlap, California, almost resulting in an accident. In shock, the camera man stopped filming when the collapse started. The pilot, flying an Advance Alpha 3 wing, was way too close to the ground for comfort but recovered. Keep your distance from the ridge at Dunlap!

The weather was hot for me, it was 86F in the morning, but so-so to all paragliders, according to them the condition was a bit windy and bumpy, they couldn't stay "many hours" as their wishes for in the sky. By the time I was driving down to the hill, most of them were all on the ground.

We arrived early that made us enough time to get on top of the hill to our camp site, it was 40 minutes drive. After unloading our gears into our cabin, we drove back down the hill for a meeting and up to the hill again to get ready to fly. BTW, my role here is- a shuttle bunny and a film maker.

After a tough day of getting up early, long driving, filming in the hot air, waiting for paragliders, standing by on the hill in the afternoon to see if they could get the second chance to fly, having dinner with all paragliders etc. it was the end of a day, and time to party! We had this Tequila brought back from Ron's dad just a week ago from Mexico. Needless to say, it was fantastic, and of course we were aaaaall drunk!!!
