While vacationing in the Keys, shooting video of the sunrise, an Egret/Heron landed on the dock. July 15, 2008: Here is a little video I made while refilling the pond in the egret aviary at IBRRC. All wasn't so peaceful when I first entered, but after a few minutes the residents concluded I wasn't going to eat them. So they settled down to their usual routines of wading in the water, flying from perch to perch, eating, and pecking their neighbor. This aging aviary was beautifully restored this spring by Monte, one of our rehabilitation experts. A small pond was created, pots of plants ...

July 15, 2008: This clip shows the branches hung by bungee cords. The egrets fly back and forth, and the branches gently sway when they land on them. The aviary is also a flight cage.
