Oh, oh, oh Sensible Software were just asking for trouble with this one. Regardless, since im the part of mankind that actualy has a sense of humour, I find both the game and this intro to be extremely fun and a great example of how to make videogames that were fun to play, something that seems to be missing from almost every game in the shelves right now (with some execptions, of course). I know Sensi were hard at work on Cannon fodder 3, in full 3D, but the game is now in "Development Limbo", but who knows with so many opportunities being offered by Wii VC, XBLA and PSNetwork, Im hoppign to hear more from Cannon Fodder in the future. Oh, and Jon Hare was right: War had never been so much fun, indeed.

Si Vic Chesnutt a depuis longtemps gagné ses lettres de noblesse dans le paysage folk, sa récente tournée européenne a marqué une véritable consécration, s'accompagnant de moults éloges et marques de respect. On ignore si c'est l'effet Silver Mount Zion en backing band, l'effet Constellation ou simplement la reconnaissance mais une chose est sûre, tout cela est plus que mérité. C'est donc avec une timidité révérencieuse que nous avons abordé Vic Chesnutt pour cette 41e session acoustique du cargo. Et puis là, tout s'est enchaîné, on ne sait trop comment... la distance a fondu aussi vite que la gêne. Le bar de la maroquinerie nous a gentiment accueillis, nous offrant les couleurs et quelques lumières additionnelles pour achever de placer Vic Chesnutt dans un cadre lumineux. Un petit clin d'œil additionnel avec une exposition de photos de Renaud Monfourny. En arrière plan, une ancienne photo de Vic, casquette vissée sur la tête. Ne prêtant aucune attention à l'agitation des cuisines et l'organisation du restaurant pour le soir, Vic Chesnutt transcende les trois chansons qu'il nous offre ce jour là. Au jeu des cargo requests, le musicien ne s'est pas fait prier pour jouer Supernatural, demandé en mémoire d'un concert fabuleux à Bruxelles en 1998. Du dernier album (North Star Deserter), il nous a offert le ténu Fodder on her wings et, à notre demande, le déchirant Everything I Say. Une session qui restera sans aucun doute aussi gravée dans les esprits que le premier concert, généreuse et d'une humilité bouleversante. Aug 2004 Outgunned and under-resourced, the new Iraqi security force is forced to operate in hopelessly inadequate conditions. We join them on patrol. A group of soldiers crouch down beside their car. It's morning in Baghdad. Already 27 soldiers have been wounded in a three hour battle with the resistance. As attacks like this show, the insurrection in Iraq is far from over. The new police force is regarded by many as an American proxy. "America uses Iraqis to strike Iraqis," complains Moqtada al-Sadr's spokesman, Abdul Hadi Al-Daraji. The police are seen as an easy target and their stations come under daily attack. Many officers lack even uniforms and arm themselves with weapons confiscated from rebels. This lack of resources forces them to rely on the Americans for back-up. But working with the US endangers them further. As one Iraqi soldier explains: "Whenever foreign forces are present, our post gets attacked."

Legend has it that Family Fodder came together due to their friendship with the band This Heat. Alig Fodder and Dominique Levillian released some excellent music in the post punk era, though they are probably best remembered for the track 'Debbie Harry'. Although somewhere (lost at present) is a video I made for their freaky song 'Dinosaur Sex' - I did find 'Film Music' and thought I'd share......... Imagery? From a 'Play For Tomorrow' drama c/o the BBC called 'Shades' about a group in a 'youth centre' discovering their political conscience.
