Like old times, a Southern Pacific SW1500 along with a Rio Grande GP40-2 are switching at Roseville, on the east side of the maintenance facility (only the GP40-2 was under power). Times have changed, though, as the person waving hand signals on the SW1500 is a brakewoman. Rumor has it that there are women engineers at Roseville, so this could have been an all woman crew.

January 21, 2008: Turn it up! NS GP40-2 3039 leads H47 and NS GP38-2 5662 brings up the rear. That horn is MASSIVE! Absolutely one of my favorites. In comparison, this sounds like the S-5T RRO on the 3430. ENJOY! Also, that evening at Wernersville Station H31 had a NS High Hood GP50 7056 with a great P3 horn leading and NS High Hood GP38-2 5171 pushing. Enjoy!

Lucky us, we got a friendly engineer at Kenova who let us up in the cab and gave us a ride back to my car. He threw it in about notch 6, listen to the turbo winding, it sounds great. CSX GP40-2 #6443 has a very nice K5LA and so does it's slug 2252. Thanks to the engineer for letting us up.

Norfolk Southern GP40-2 #3030 and Dash-9 #9551 lead half-loaded stacktrain South on the BNSF line. Also see part 2 of this video when the BNSF Autotrain led by a GP60 is seen just after the NS passes. Filmed on the BNSF line going over the old Rock Island diamond. SEE MY OTHER VIDEOS!!

This is in a shed behind my house. Some of the rolling stock are Tyco from train sets I've had since the mid 80's. I call it my poor mans HO layout. First thing my great aunt told me was that they run a yard job in San Diego every day. The next thing you know, it was there! Coolest thing that ever happened to me. The engine had a nice S3K too. Here we are at Union Station, where we get a big surprise on the tail end of New Jersey Transit Train 5449, the Raritan Valley Line local to Raritan. Today's consist is PL42AC 4013 with 6 Comet coaches and GP40PH-2B 4201 bringing up the markers. The only reason this engine was in the consist was because it was being taxied to Raritan Yard so that it could tie on to P40DC 4802 and drag it back to Kearny. I think this was a great catch, because the 4201 was MU'ed with the train, but the HEP ...

Norfolk Southern GP40-2 #3026 still in Conrail Paint runs light over the Union Ave Crossing in Lakehurst NJ to haul the SA31 freight train up the Southern Secondary to join its train and bring the train back to Browns Yard in Sayreville NJ.

I love the NJT Geeps, so I made a fitting tribute, hopefully you all will like it as much as I did making it. The GP40 series of NJT includes the GP40FH-2, the GP40PH-2, PH-2A, PH-2B, & GP40-2 (the work/switcher/MOW diesels) SOMETHING FORGOTTEN IN THE TRIBUTE: Out of the 15 GP40FH-2's ordered, only 4 remain in service, 4142 (pictured), 4141, 4139 (broken HEP), & 4138.
