Tour of a 40ft Gillig Low Floor

This 1974 Gillig bus has been sold. This bus was purchased from Puyallup School district surplus and was then donated to the church. This video is of it being started after 2 years of sitting. The church rarely used it and just needed it to be gone from the parking lot.

Gillig Advantage Low Floor #5538 was on the 38 and NovaBus Classic TC-40102A #2604 was on the 16D traveling to their respective terminals along Liberty Av in Downtown Pittsburgh. I like the NovaBus Classics but they don't sound like any DD50 series engines. There buses have a BASS to the DD50 series engines. Sounds good though, LOL! Enjoy!

A 1993 Gillig Phantom. #961 was previously equipped with Detroit Diesel 6V92TA and Allison HT748. Samtrans repowered all of the 1993 Gillig Phantoms 700 series and 900 series to Cummins ISM and Allison B400R. The bus was operating on Route 250.

Gillig Phantom AC Transit 1502 Detroit Diesel 6V92TA Allison HT747 at 43.

The bus is equipped with Detroit Diesel 6V92TA and Voith D863.3. It was later repowered to Detroit Diesel Series 40 with the same transmission. The bus was operating on Route 211 in the Fremont/Union City area.

Here is SMART's 2001's 35 foot Gillig LF bus T-35 #2135 operating on Route #405 Northwestern Hwy to Ford Medical Center on 15 Mile Rd. This bus is powered with the Detroit Diesel Series 40 engine with the Allison World B400R 5 speed auto transmission. Btw, the transmission is slightly out of sync.

samTrans 1993 gillig phantom on route 130.the video starts in Daly City top of the hill and ends at Daly City BART. You can see 2 or 3 SF Muni 60ft ETI Skodas and 2 Neoplan an440s this bus along with the rest of the 1993 gilligs will be replaced by gillig BRT's Engine:Cummins ISM Transmission:Allison B400R

My second ride in brand new 40 Foot Gilligs

This is a 1994 Gillig Phantom. This bus used to be operated by Denver, Colorado. It is now operated by Southland transit. It was renumbered 9978 on the outside, but on the inside, it looks like a Denver bus with 8235 all over the place. This bus has a DD Series 50 engine with Allison transmission. Enjoy.
