This nest is located on Laguna Key, Gulf Shores, Alabama. It contained 111 eggs. It was found June 19, 2009 by Tom Dodd, a volunteer from "Share the Beach." The eggs hatched on August 12, 2009. The first egg hatched at 4:30 pm during a thunderstorm. 107 more followed at 7:30 pm This is an unusual daytime hatching of loggerheads. Storm video I shot today along the Gulf coast from near Panama City Beach, Florida to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Even though Gustav passed over 200 miles southwest of this area, the effects were still significant. At one location, I clocked a wind gust over 65 mph in a squall atop my chase vehicle (anemometer); also observed/ videotaped a wall cloud/ developing tornado near Destin, Florida which touched down and caused damage at nearby Eglin AFB.

100 baby sea turtles made it to the water from this nest. On August 29, 2009 Nest B5 in Laguna Key, Gulf Shores Alabama hatched. The nest had been identified previously on July 6 by volunteers from Share the Beach. The groups website is at www.alabamaseaturtles.org
