Hazardous Walk to School in Canaan videos

The intersection at South Avenue and Farm Road is too hazardous for elementary school children. Vehicles run red lights over crosswalks and there is no crossing guard to assist children in the middle of the intersection. At the northeast corner, children wait for the light to change with no barrier between them and a high volume of speeding traffic.

South Elementary School students walk along busy Farm Road between South Avenue and South School. The barrier between the students and the high volume of cars is just 3-5 feet. Young elementary students are too impulsive in their movements to travel safely this close to traffic.

South Elementary and Saxe Middle school students walk to school in close proximity to a high volume of speeding vehicles. Some children are as young as 5 yrs old. A Saxe 6th grade student crosses the road in traffic.
