The Pony Express is the newest roller coaster at Knotts Berry Farm. It has a unique style of riding. Instead of sitting back in your seat like a normal roller coaster, you sit forward just like you would if you were riding a horse.

The accident, on September 18th, 2009, on the ride, Xcelerator at Knotts Berry Farm, involved the cable from the ride's hydraulic launch mechanism snapping (or coming loose), sending debris into two rider's faces, causing cuts and lacerations, as well as sending hot hydraulic fluid and steam onto the riders.
