However, extinct birds such as Icthyornis and Hesperornis, which were unquestionably 100% birds, also had teeth. It has a 'mosaic' of characters in common with both groups but shows no true transitional structure such as a part-scale, part-feather. There are no fossil links between it and either reptiles or birds—it stands alone. True birds have been found which are assigned by evolutionists to an earlier time than Archaeopteryx. Respected anatomists like Dr Charles Oxnard (evolutionist and holder of professorships at the University of Western Australia and the University of California at Santa Barbara) have concluded from a detailed multivariate computer analysis of the bones that Lucy's kind (australopithecines) a) did not walk upright in the human manner and b) were in their overall anatomy not intermediate between apes and humans. Lucy was equipped for knucklewalking. Sadly, in this regard the public are often misled by inaccurately reconstructed statues and images of Lucy displayed at museums and in textbooks, etc., as her feet (and hands, for that matter) are often portrayed as startlingly human-like. Many evolutionists themselves concede such errors, acknowledging that australopithecine hands and feet were 'not at all like human hands and feet; rather, they have long curved fingers and toes' even more so than apes today that live mostly in the trees. Also, CAT scans of australopithecine inner ear canals (reflecting posture and balance) by anatomist Dr Fred Spoor and his colleagues at University College, London, showed they did not walk habitually upright.
