LAVENTILLE REALLY HAS IT!

From Jan - March 2008, Trinidad has had over 50 murders. Laventille and Gonzales are at the epicenter of allthe violence and fear. The youth need to stand up and make a change. On Feb 14, 2008, I asked some youths from Trinidad,to participate in a peace rally. I proposed people walk from St. Martin De Porres church in Gonzales to Our Lady of Fatima in Laventille. It was met with great fear and skepticism. Here is a small clip of their reaction. ------- As a result of this discussion, the youth of TallMan Foundation have organized "A Time For Change Youth Rally" in the neighborhood of Gonzales on March 2, 3-6pm 2008. It is the vision of the "A Time For Change Youth Rally" that youth in Gonzales may begin to realize the potential they have and see that they can make a difference in their lives and the lives of others in Gonzales. I challenge all the youth in Trinidad to stand up and make a change. I would like to organize a Peace/Prayer rally from Gonzales to Laventille. Who Will Walk With ME? Dexter 'Clappy' Wilson passed away on August 9th. He was a bass player for Phase II from 1993. Here is a tribute to him with additional photos of Boogsie Sharpe and band members playing at his wake in the pan yard with friends and family in Port of Spain Trinidad. The music track is "Pan Rising," one of Clappie's favourites. From www.pan-jumbie.com: Dexter 'Clappy"Wilson was a long standing member of Phase II Pan Groove's stageside and the bass-section leader. He held that position since 1998 after another great bass man, 'Druggist' had died of an illness. Clappy functioned also at a time as vice-captain. He was a very quiet and friendly Rastafarian from Laventille. Phase II has lost a very dedicated and faithful man in him and a great bass player. He was ALWAYS there when Boogsie (the band's musical director Len Sharpe) needed him, taking care of all the hard work in the bass section like mounting up the basses on the racks, painting e.g, and making sure the other players got their parts right. Swanky Music Video Shot at the Beetham Gardens, Laventille, at place called "Hell-Yard." This is currently one of the most popular videos in the Caribbean because of it's "grimey,ghetto" appearance. Cassiano Sylvester, a.k.a Cassi, is known for his unique voice and powerful (sometimes bitter) lyrics, hence the reason he is sometimes Called "Maubi bark".LOL! He is one of the Caribbean's Newest Sensations. Take Control was written by Cassi and produced by Angelo at D Cube which is located in Mt.Hope. The video was produced by Ice and T Productions Malabar Trinidad. Look out for him on July 12th "Soca 4 Summer!" Cassi is currently in studio working on his next hit. Stay tuned!
