Dareyne-Jan / Masnavi sung by Shusha
Something different..these two songs are off of an album of traditional Persian music. This is a beautiful record with singing accompanied by flute and zarb. Here are some of the liner notes for these two particular songs: Darling Dareyne (from Mazenderan, Caspian Region), "Why have you made me suffer so much that I regret my love for you? I shan't come to you any more, but I shall repeat your name. I leave now for a faraway land and bid you farewell. If you want me to come back, don't cry for me, just pray for me day and night" Masnavi (a traditional mystic chant from the book of Rumi) "A traveller saw Majnun sitting all alone in the middle of the desert. Using a flat surface of sand as a sheet of paper and his fingers as a pen, he was writing the name of his beloved Leyli over and over again. The traveller said: O Mad Majnun! What are you doing? If writing a letter, who is to receive it? Majnun replied: I practice the name of Leyli - since I cannot reach her in real union, I make love with her name." |

M. SHIRKHODAYI - radif on clarinet
Segah - shahgusheh Mokhalef in Masnavi style. Master Hassan Kassayi introduces him : "the fondement of Music is resumed in just one word : it's musician soul burning which can impress listener's heart ; only Candle knows why Butterfly gives his soul". Mohammad Shirkhodayi, târ and clarinet player, born in Tehran, 1926. At age of 15 he entered in Tehran Music Academy, and there, on Ali Naghi Vaziri and Ruhollah Khaleghi's advice, he started to study târ. He performed as a solist on Tehran Radio (created in 1940) at the age of 19 ; then he became a member of famous R. Khaleghi's Academic Orchestra. During first "Golhâ" (Golhâ-ye djâvidân) performances on radio, director Davood Pirniâ asked him to play clarinet ; Shirkhodayi's beginning's on this instrument were so amazing that he then specialized on clarinet. He recorded with the most famous musicians in his time, from Gholam Hossein Banan to Hossein Tehrani through Abolhassan Saba. His works along with those of Hosseinali Vaziritabar contribute to the creation of a radif for clarinet. He worked all his life as an expert for different regional Music Academies in Iran. A little niggle
Persian words: masnavi-e ma'navi, line 1 I hesitate to cite the author's most common nickname due to a modern tendency to complain that he's Afghani or Turki or whatever. Music: an old Nonesuch recording, dastgah-e shur, santur player is Faramarz Payvar. Complaint: wholly mine own. Admittedly this is just a first fiddle with an old version of iMovie (05), but the latest Mac browser still isn't getting the darn ligatures right. |

IRELAND Sketches and MEVLEVI Ney Music
Some of my Drawing and Watercolour Sketches from Ireland with Mevlevi Ney Music. You can think that This Music and My Sketches are not revelant but as Mevlana has said : "Come, come again, whoever you are, come! Heathen, fire worshipper or idolatrous, come! Come even if you broke your penitence a hundred times, Ours is the portal of hope, come as you are." therefore This Mevlevi Music can be revelant with everyone and everything... Mevlana Celaleddin was born on 30 September 1207 in Balkh in present day Afghanistan and He died on 17 December 1273 in KONYA in present day TURKEY. Mevlana also says : "I HAVE FIVE THINGS TO SAY..... Five things to give into your grace.. FIRST : When I was apart from You , this World did not exist nor any other SECOND :Whatever I was looking for was always You.. THIRD : Why Did I ever learn to count to Three ??? ................ ONLY YOU Only you I choose among the entire world. Is it fair of you letting me be unhappy? My heart is a pen in your hand. It is all up to you to write me sad or happy. ................... WHO IS MEVLANA ? Mevlana who is also known as Rumi, was a philosopher and mystic of Islam. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him and to his disciples all religions are more or less truth. Looking with the same eye on Muslim, Jew and Christian alike, his peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds..... During the more than 800 years of recorded history of The Mevlevi Order, 33 members of the family occupied the Post Celaleddin Bakir Celebi, the 21st grandson of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi died on 13 April, 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey. The hooker was developed for the strong seas there. It is identified by the sail formation, which is extremely distinctive and quite beautiful. It consisted of a single mast with a main sail and two foresails. Traditionally, the boat is black (being coated in pitch) and the sails are a dark red-brown. "ABOUT the CONNACHT" Con McCann ( well known boatman and musician ) restored veteran hooker Connacht at Kinvara , Aug.1987 . On wednesday June 28th 1989 , The Connacht sailed from Portaferry bound north to Carrickfergus ..later Roundstone.. the weather blew up strong north west and a faint mayday call was picked up in Liverpool identifying the Connacht as sinking but radio was cut before completion of the message. ...The searchers located the body of Audrey Cannon , a broken tiller ....but no trace of Con McCann or CONNACHT........ G A L W A Y Galway (Irish: Gaillimh) is the only city in the province of Connacht in the Republic of Ireland. The city is located on the west coast of Ireland. In Irish, Galway is also called Cathair na Gaillimhe: "City of Galway". Read more ....... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galway |
