Meramec River Flood - Eureka, Missouri - March 20, 2008

After coming home from work, I took my Sony handicam to the Meramec River area near the intersection of Highway W and FF, which is a couple miles south of Eureka. The river is expected to crest at just about 42 feet sometime Sat. morning, March 22, 2008. Meramec River Flood - Eureka, Missouri - March 21, 2008

After recording yesterday, I get more flood footage today. First what can be seen in my backyard, then to Highway FF for the river water backing up into the Labarque Creek, then to the Highway W bridge over the Meramec just south of Eureka. The river actually crested at 38.7 feet today - short of the original 43 feet record projection. Meramec Floods Fenton

March 20, 2008 11 am central time I captured this video at Ferry and Main street Fenton which is located in St. Louis County. The Meramec River flows along the boundry of this town. If you look across the river you can see Minnie Ha Ha Park which is located in Sunset Hills. Highway 30 or Gravois is in the background. I stood in front of the Fenton Feed Mill and you can see the river is over the banks and up the hill unto the park path and on the River Road here in Fenton. A call went out to ...

MOGA 2005 - Meramec State Park - Pre-event Cache Placements

MOGA stands for the 'Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure' - a combination competition and casual cache-hunting event. Ok, so this video is kind of boring if you aren't into geocaching or involved in setting up a geocaching event. What I thought was neat was that I took the rented mini-dv camera deep into Sheep Cave at Meramec State Park, Missouri. The park has a very large number of caves, however, only Fisher Cave has organized tours. Paul Konopacki Amateur Videographer

Meramec Caverns Cheesy Light Show

This is the "light show" seen at the end of the Meramec Caverns tour in Stanton, Missouri. The cheesiness is enhanced by the sounds of the constant clicking of ancient light switches by the tour guides to flash all the lights on and off. Unfortunately, the video does not pick up this effect. You'd have to see it in person for that. My favorite part is near the end when the recorded applause ends, and all you can hear is one person laugh, and another person cough. This is followed by polite ...

Meramec River Floods Meramec Bottom Rd

Meramec River crested at 8:00 PM central time, on March 22, 2008 in South St. Louis County. Film taken at Meramec Bottom Rd just down from Kerth Rd. The fields shown belong to the Kolping Kix plus a local farmer. The main shelter is still under water...the picnic tables are floating with the restrooms in the far background completely submerged. Visible to the maked eye not so much with the cell camera. I was hoping to get into Fenton and film the water levels a day after the crest. The ...
