CHAN: The Chinese military is modernizing so fast that the U.S. should be building its own new weapon systems to counter it—this what's being said in a draft report by the U.S. Secretary of State's International Security Advisory Board. We bring you this story based on an exclusive report from The Washington Times. STORY: This is the first time U.S. defense policy recommends building missile defenses specifically against China. The Chinese regime is strategizing to build forces that are capable of more than just retaking Taiwan. According to the draft report, China's major military objective is to, "counter U.S. presence and U.S. military capabilities in East Asia... through the acquisition of offensive capacities in critical functional areas that systematically exploit U.S. vulnerabilities.” China's weapons buildup involves capabilities for "asymmetric warfare," such as space and computer weapons. Currently, the Chinese regime has about 20 nuclear missiles capable of reaching the U.S. And it's projected to have more than 100 missiles within just seven years. The U.S. Security Advisory Board points out China's military modernization should be a concern, "...even with the most benign interpretation of China's motivation.” The draft has not been officially released, but, according to a State Department official, it could be completed in the next several weeks.
