I hitch back to Grants Pass with a ride from Sandie. I couldn't get a ride last night, was cold and rainy. Then I ride to Myrtle Creek. Hampton eats three mouthfuls of herbicide sprayed grass along a Roseburg bike path of all places, a local resident warns me fortunately.

We wake at 7 am, I notice Hampton has a limp. He rolled on the saddle twice yesterday to scratch his back. His shoulder feels tender, and bruised. I walk him across the road, to a field. Soon he can not even walk, his condition deteriorates, he sits down, then flops over on his side, and rolls his eyes as dying. His breathing goes shallow, very shallow.
