Palikir Pass and Manta Road

Our last day of diving in Pohnpei, we were skirting rainstorms left and right, looking for an opportune place to dive. The pass seemed the best place to start! When we went back to Manta Road, though, there were only sharks despite the outgoing tide. :(

Palikir Pass

Micronesia National Anthem

Micronesia, from the Greek mikros (μικρός) (meaning small) and nesos (νῆσος) (meaning island), is a subregion of Oceania, comprising hundreds of small islands in the Pacific Ocean. The Philippines lie to the northwest, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Melanesia to the west and south, and Polynesia to the east. In 1979 the Federated States of Micronesia, a UN Trust Territory under US administration, adopted a constitution. In 1986 independence was attained under a Compact of Free Association with the US, which was amended and renewed in 2004. Present concerns include large-scale unemployment, overfishing, and overdependence on US aid.
