a story on CBS Evening News from January 4, 2006 about Joe Paterno (and a little of Bobby Bowden) after Penn State's win in the Orange Bowl on January 3, 2006. It was nice to see Joe finally get some respect after several years of taking hits. My favorite part: "No but I'm going to propose you retire after this one" LOL Great game, Penn State won 26-23.

79 yr. old Joe fails to get out of the way and gets his leg mangled on the sidelines during Penn State v. Wisconsin game 11/4/06 -------------------- Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Penn State football coach Joe Paterno broke his left leg in a sideline collision with one of his players during a loss at Wisconsin. An examination in State College, Pennsylvania, found that Paterno, fractured the top of his left shin bone and damaged ligaments in his left knee, the school said in a news release. A decision on whether Paterno needs surgery to repair the injuries has not been made.
