Boeing 747. Some of the bigger aircraft of the day, two of which up-close on takeoff (noisy!). Includes Travel City Direct, Virgin Atlantic (two different aircraft), and Cargo Dragonair. Shame I didn't know TCD was going to ingest a bird, I wish I'd been filming the engine to see the fire!

This is a collection of A330s landing on rwy6R. Two BMIs, one Qatar, one My Travel, one US Airways, and finally, one Thomas Cook.

An Airbus A300 arrives and departs from Manchester on a windy late-afternoon. I love these classic Airbuses, they are a treat on the eye... she looks great as she climbs away from us, and even makes the new Monarch scheme look good!

I bet it would have been depressing to be on board this flight! Nice to see an Alitalia jet back at Manchester, this charter was flying AC Roma fans back from their 7-1 defeat against Man United FC. Ouch!

Here's three of the many airliners that cross the Atlantic from Manchester every day. Features US Airways A330, Continental 757 and the new Delta 767-400 service to JFK- watch how the 757 'bounces' across the runway as she taxies out. Her winglets look superb!

Bird strike during take off and emergency landing.

A first attempt at a chopper video. This rather fine looking specimen taxied out from the executive apron (located right beside the viewing park!) and took off on 24R right in front of us. I'm usually more of an airliners guy, but I really do like the look of this bird!

Some early morninig footage! Malaysian 747 arriving on 23R from Guangzhou, a Cessna 525, and a Thomas Cook 757 leaving a vapour trail. Then departing 23L Ryanair 737 in Boeing colours and finally the departing Malaysian 747.

Beautiful wintery sunshine at Manchester Airport... ahhh, bliss! I love hearing the excitement of the kids in the background as this jumbo jet takes off, they love it almost as much as us!

Time for something a little different. Well, my nan's becoming quite the celebrity around Ringway, and on this morning she was attempting to wave at the pilots as they began their takeoff roll. This SQ pilot had to wait on the end of 24L for several minutes, so he and his co-pilot waved at us!

For everyone who loves the Boeing 747. We saw EIGHT of these beauties at Manchester in the space of 2hrs 30mins- Corsair-400, China Airlines Cargo-400F, two PIA-200s, two Virgin Atlantic-400s, Excel Airways-300 and an Air Atlanta -300.

Back at Manchester for the summer, this beauty is a perfect backdrop on which to show off the new 'toothpaste-blue' colour scheme- she looks good. Quite smokey engines as she climbs away from 24L!
