Battling 25-35 mph winds with higher gusts, I take the tiny Firebird Phantom to the highest hill in Iowa and test it's "slope soaring" (wind gliding) ability. I was pleasantly surprised (again) as this little bird, easily handled the high winds and will glide for hours on 1 battery charge. This full glider flight in a K-21 including the aerotow, was shot from mostly outside the glider at Adrian Soaring Club. It starts with the tow rope hookup, takeoff, and then a typical aerotow behind our clubs Piper Pawnee tow plane. The air-to-air shots of the Pawnee flying by given an even better view of it.
