Wayzata Today TV news - April 23 - A look at the April 23 Sun-Sailor
On the front page this week we have two stories from opposite sides of the spectrum. First the bad news. The City of Wayzata is facing a revenue shortfall for 2009 that could be as much as $300000 when all is said and done. The shortfall is due to a slowdown in development fees coming into the city. City Manager Al Orsen told me last week that in a typical year the city has received between $50000 and $60000 in development fees by the end of the first quarter. This year that number has ... |

Our top story this week was Orono Schools closing due to a probable case of N1H1 influenza the so-called "swine flu." I don't know about you, but I'm a little tired of seeing, reading, writing and talking about this illness. So here's the short version: All four Orono Schools closed on Monday while the district waited for more information about a probable case of N1H1 at OHS. Orono Middle School, Intermediate School and Schumann Elementary re-opened on Tuesday. On Wednesday the high school ... |

Minnetonka-based Snyder's has announced that it is "downsizing to improve competitiveness amid the current challenging economic environment for retail stores." Surviving this round of cuts are both the Long Lake store, located at 1865 Wayzata Blvd., and the Orono store, located at 2380 Shadywood Road. Some stores in the Sun-Sailor coverage area, however, were not as fortunate. The Hopkins store at ... |

Wayzata Today TV news - April 30 - A look at today's Sun-Sailor
On the front page this week are two stories I've touched on in prior webcasts - the City of Wayzata's $300000 shortfall and its decision to cease printing its newsletter The Bay Window and the Long Lake City Council voting to expand its Park Board from three to five members. Wayzata's short on revenue so far this year due to the credit crunch and developers putting pretty all planned projects on hold. The Bay Window is simply the first of many cuts to help make up for the shortfall. The city ... |
