I shot this with my HD camcorder June 10th, 2007 at 1AM. The video is mostly looking Northeast at the radio towers West of Maize. The real cool lightening starts at 3:13 into the video. The first few minutes has great thunder claps though. Make sure you crank up your speakers! Of course the HD content looks a lot better...

My 3-year-old son and I enjoy a very loud thunderstorm together from the balcony of our apartment. You'll have to pardon us if we're a little too excited -- we just love thunderstorms. My wife joined us on the balcony and attempted to pull my son back from the edge out of concern for his safety. Miami very rarely gets thunderstorms of this intensity. There was golf ball sized hail, hurricane force wind gusts and nearly non stop lightning that struck the building I was in several times. The winds came and went four different times over the course of an hour and a half. For simplicity's sake, I cut out the time in between the periods of high winds. This video was taken on June 13, 2005 during a thunderstorm in Fairfax, VA. The clouds were dipping down and spiraling, very common in tornado producing storms.

Fairly strong thunderstorms march through Wichita, KS on 8-8-2007. I was playing with my D-SLR and decided to make a slideshow of what I got. I was going to set up a tripod, but hesitated getting out of the car. :0 Very Active cloud to ground. The best shots are from a tripod out of my garage at the end. I think the hits are somewhere around 235 and zoo blvd, but it might be hitting buildings downtown. I could have had a better view if I would have got on my roof... ;) Maybe next time....
