In 1942, the US Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangars around the US coastlines to house the K-class blimps being used for antisubmarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Two of these hangars were built at Naval Air Station Tillamook. They were commissioned in December 1942 and served the Oregon-Washington coastal area. We fired off over 200 rounds close to the Oregon coast in Tillamook State Park. We handled a Springfield 1911, a Yugoslavian Mauser, a Yugoslavian SKS, a Winchester 30.06, and a Ruger .22. We had a lot of fun!
