A Tesla turbine is a quite unique technology. It was invented and patented by Nikola Tesla on the 21st October 1909 at the Untied States Patent Office from experiments done in England. The patent 1061206 was granted on the 6th May 1913. Although, it is thought that a Tesla first showed a 200 hp 16000 RPM version on the 10th of July 1906 (on Tesla's 50th birthday).

This is more film of the GE LM1500 gas turbine engine running at the S&S Turbines open-air test cell. All the noise in the beginning is made by the start cart, which is a 90Hp turbine engine. Even when you hear the LM1500 start to wind up, it's not even running until you see the heat waves coming out the back of it. This happens when the operator opens the fuel valve at around 2000 rpm. The braking mechanism that limits the speed of the wind turbine broke during a storm in Denmark.
