Wicksteed Park - Baguley Restored

On Bastille Day 2007 three steam locos and a petrol mechanical s/o guested at the 2 ft gauge railway in Wicksteed Park, Kettering. This loco which was once quietly rotting away at Cadeby Rectory has been restored by John Lucas and the Moseley Group. An interesting steam outline, 0-4-0 diesel mechanical Baguley, works number 1695 of 1928 it has not run for some time and has not hauled, as it does here a set of Baguley coaches since 1939! Correct me if I'm wrong. LAWR No. 1 first ran at ...

WICKSTEED PARK KETTERING UK ANNUAL FIREWORKS DISPLAY 2009

WICKSTEED PARK KETTERING UK ANNUAL FIREWORKS DISPLAY 2009 The children loved it. I dont think themusic used during the display was very good, last years was so much better, but thats my own personal opinion. The Wicksteed entertainment group was superb, and the BBC RADIO NORTHAMPTON was not too bad. Again if I am to be honest, the one they had last year interacted more with the crowd. I think because they were in a hurry, the comeptiton they ran, was a total screw up. The staff went and got ...

Wicksteed Park - Lady of the Lake & King Arthur

The resident locos at Wicksteed Park are three historic steam-outline engines. The Motor-Rail 4wDM Cheyenne (2224/1966)did not run on this occasion. The other two 0-4-0DM Baguleys (2042/1931 & 2043/1931) were seen shunting, and piloting the steam loco Rishra from Leighton Buzzard.

Wicksteed Park - Taffy & Chaloner

Wicksteed Park, Kettering. The annual steam weekend 2007. This year there were 3 steam locos and a Baguley s/o visiting the 2 ft gauge railway. These are a few shots of Patrick Keef's Taffy (AK 30/1994) and Alf Fisher's Chaloner (DeWinton/1877), both 0-4-0VBT vertical boilered steam locomotives. nb these videos are just short snatches of material, more of which will appear in the DVD - Steamin' Around on the Narrow Gauge - 2007.

Wicksteed Park 15.7.07

This is a park I have never been to before, and it's a great family park with a lot of landscaped areas. Includes 2 coasters and a very interesting ride.

Our Trip to Wicksteed Park in Kettering Northamptonshire April15th 2009

Video Filmed and Edited by me on April 15th 2009. The Music used in this video is by Jason Shaw AUDIONAUTIX.COM released courtesy of 'CREATIVE COMMONS' Credit and thanks to www.youtube.com Let us take you back... The Park's beginnings can be traced back to 1913 when Charles Wicksteed purchased a tract of Northamptonshire meadowland near Kettering with the intention of developing a model village. He wanted to create an open space and safe parkland for local families - many of these families ...

Wicksteed Park - Chaloner Photo Trip

At the end of a lovely sunny day on the 14th July (It rained on St. Swithins and has rained ever since!) those enthusiasts still around after six pm rode behind 1877-built 0-4-0VBT Chaloner on a photo trip which last half-an-hour. Driven by Alf Fisher's son David we stopped at several strategic points around the lake, culminating in a run-past. nb these videos are just short snatches of material, more of which will appear in the DVD - Steamin' Around on the Narrow Gauge - 2007....

Tempermental Flushing Trough, Ladies, Wicksteed Park

Here's another by my Mum, it's one of the toilets connected to the flushing trough, sadly this one is tempermental. Bowl is the same as the gents. When the flush does start, it's powerful and nice sounding. What I found odd was the colour in this video, it was blue-ish. My Mum said there was a blue light near the cistern, yet in the gents, there's normal lighting.

Twyford And Royal Doulton, Wicksteed High Level Toilet Block

I decided to go back later and I got the last two toilets in one video. The first is the replaced Twyford, it may be replaced but the sound and pressure is brilliant. The second is the original Royal Doulton, the pull on the chain felt weaker for some reason and strangely, when I pulled and let go, a drop of water came flying out from the cistern and hit me on the head ... The flush again sounds good and is powerful. I hope they don't renovate them, they are nice toilets but I fear for them ...

WICKSTEED PARK - Cheyenne

In May 2008 we re-visited Wicksteed Park, especially to video this s/o loco as it did not run last year at the steam weekend. When completed, possibly in time for the 2008 steam gala in July it will be available at the railway via David Nelson or from us by mail-order. Built in 1966, Cheyenne is the youngest of all the Wicksteed Park's locomotives. She is a 40hp Motor Rail Simplex, built to a standard industrial design with a tried and proven track record. She is the only Simplex locomotive ...

Syphonic TWYFORDS, Ladies Toilets, Bistro, Wicksteed Park

I finally got to shoot the ladies toilets in the Bistro at Wicksteed park thanks to my Mum who kept watch while I went round shooting the cubicles. I believe these toilets have been renovated, as my Mum said they used to be pink with carpeting and a syphonic toilet cubicle is missing sadly. but at least the remaining toilets except the disabled cubicles are the original. This first one located in the second part of the room furthest back is a TWYFORDS. I think it's a different batch as the ...

MobiLoo, Wicksteed Park Camping Grounds

I finally found the type of portaloo I've been looking for, the front shelf type. I was at Wicksteed Park the other day about to walk round the lake when I saw this portaloo in the camping grounds, but there was a hedge blocking the entrance, further round I found a gap, and got into it to find the rare type of portaloo. As said in the title it is made by MobiLoo, this one is sinkless, there is alcohol gel in there and a tap outside the cubicle. The bowl has no flap, it just falls through ...

Twyford, Ladies Toilets, Bistro, Wicksteed Park

Here's the last of the videos from the ladies toilets in the Bistro, this is the one that replaced a syphonic one. The cubicle is extremely big and airy, giant window too. It's a modern Twyford, the disabled type (Avalon) I wasn't going to shoot this but I did because of the logo which is rare to find on the Twyford Avalons here. Haven't got much to say about it.
