Recorded July 18, 2000. The video begins at the Chitna, Alaska Airport as I wait for my plane to arrive. The rest of the video is shot from the copilot's seat over the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park has been called the Himalayas of North America, and no wonder; this vast area includes numerous mountain peaks from 14000' to over 19000', uncounted glaciers, some larger than the state of Rhode Island, with 20000 square miles of untracked Alaska ...

Relatively short wilderness bicycling - packrafting trip in Wrangell St. Elias National Park, biklng the McCarthy Road to the Kuskulana Bridge, dropping down into the Kuskulana River, and packrafting it and the Chitina River. Possibly the first packraft descent (??). Class II-III so this is more scenic than death-defying (see six mile for that) other than once started there is no turning back (canyon), and bringing a packraft on the Chitina in places (strong current, eddylines, waves, winds ...
