This is Steve Eve's 36ft 1600lb 1/10 scale "miniature" Saturn V rocket launch earlier today, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the first landing on the moon. The rocket was lofted by eight 13000ns N-Class motors and a 77000ns P-Class motor generating around 8000lbs of thrust! The launch was a huge success and put it in the Guiness Book of World Records as the largest model rocket ever flown! Congrats to Steve and the team!!!

In the late sixties, I got a four foot model of the Apollo 11 Saturn V Rocket. In it was an offer for a record called "Moonlighter" which contained an abbreviated version of the whole mission. I still have that record, and with the help of videos and stills found on the web, put pictures to it. Not all pictures and videos are accurate depictions to the events at that moment. However, you use what you can find. It's still appropriate. And for those who keep asking, the lift off from the moon ...
