An intense tree fire threaten homes in Bellflower this afternoon as flames leapt more than 30 feet into the sky. The fire broke out in a cypress tree in the backyard of a home in the 15100 block of Bellflower Blvd. Families scurried from their homes as embers began to fall on the neighbor. Firefighters from LAcoFD station 98 knocked down the fire about 10 minutes after it began. No one was hurt in the blaze.
