18-year-old John Challis died of cancer on Aug. 19, 2008, at his home in Freedom, Pa. He met sports heroes and inspired people around the country with positive messages in his final days.

We had the pleasure of meeting John Challis and videoing a Whitetail Deer hunt at The Shilo Ranch in Pennsylvania last November. He ended up taking two nice bucks that made great looking trophies for the wall. Anyone that knew John, knew he was a fighter and always had a positive outlook on life. John Challis, the Freedom teenager whose battle against cancer brought national attention to Beaver County, died at home on Tuesday. The 18-year-old also inspired some of his younger teammates on Freedom's baseball team; they tell Newsbreak they'll miss his presence in school and on the field.

Ellie, who lost her hands and lower legs to meningitis as a toddler, had spent the last two years walking on conventional prosthetic limbs. But she complained that she struggled to keep up with her twin sister Sophie has now become the youngest person in the world to be fitted with the flex-run feet used by leading paralympians including Oscar 'Blade Runner' Pistorius.
