Folklore review on IGN. Folklore is an action/adventure game by Kouji Okada (the father of the Shin Megami Tensei series) that takes you through seven mysterious and yet Earth-like worlds. The game features two main characters. Ellen, a troubled young woman searching for answers to her past, receives a letter from her mom: a person who died when she was a child. The letter says "I want to meet you," and suggests that Ellen go to the town of Doolin. There, she meets Keats, a journalist who handles the occult corner of a magazine. He receives a phone call from an unknown girl asking for help. When he gets to Doolin, he finds that the girl has already been killed, and decides to start up an investigation.

This rare video has Jason Lee with footage from around age 14 (Jason would turn pro 3 years later). Although the video is recorded as 1980, obviously it's wrong since Lance Mountain's deck was around 1984. Regardless, Jason Lee, at age 14 is doing tricks here that no pros were doing at that time. Radically ahead of his time with smooth kickflips when the flatground ollie itself was just invented, Jason shows that at age 14, he already had the style that made him the smoothest street skater ever. While the world was getting into invert circles from doing bonelesses for years, Jason already was proving that ollie tricks were the future. Now an actor, Jason is still credited with being the first to be street-tech with style and he is still the possessor of the greatest 360 flips. The end is Jason playing guitar in his hilarious singing style.

Professor Daniel Patterson talks about Folklore and his interest in Folklore at his house in Chapel Hill in 1997. Dan started the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina and with Tom Davenport, was one of the founders of www.folkstreams.net. DANIEL W. PATTERSON is a Kenan Professor Emeritus of English and former chair of the Curriculum in Folklore at UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Fellow of the American Folklore Society. He has taught courses in "British and American Folksong" and "Folklore in the South," is a founder of the Southern Folklife Collection in the UNC library, and has published ten books (including The Shaker Spiritual, Sounds of the South, Diversities of Gifts, and Arts in Earnest), three sound recordings, and articles on American folklore. He and his wife Beverly Patterson served as Film Review Editors for the Journal of American Folklore from 1991-1993, and he has collaborated with Tom Davenport on five folklife documentary films. In 1997-98 he was a Fellow at the National Humanities Center, and had a residency in 1999 at the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Study and Conference Center. The University of North Carolina Press in 2000 published his book A Tree Accurst: Bobby McMillon and Stories of Frankie Silver, which grew out of his collaboration with Tom Davenport on the video The Ballad of Frankie Silver. Patterson is at work on a book about early Presbyterian grave markers in the Carolinas and Pennsylvania.
