This was a slightly creepy part of my road trip around the south island of NZ. It was dusk and I was heading towards Milford Sound from Te Anau. I was the only car on the road for most of the 120km journey. This is the Homer Tunnel and it gave me shivers. November 2008

The Homer Tunnel takes the road through to Milford Sound and was a depression era project designed to create jobs. it is only just wide and tall enough for a coach to pass through but on Kiwi Experience they know how to do it in style.

From sea level up to 800m within 16km. A pretty exhaustive 1 hour climb, but it's all about the ride down....:) With max. 75km/h back home in 20 minutes.
