This is my pet tarantula Rosea molting. It took her about 8 hours. I shot 45min. of video and edited it down to this. A molt is what is left behind when an animal sheds its skin, feathers or shell. The process its self is called molting. Not only do spiders molt but other animals as well, such as birds, snakes, lizards and crabs. If you want to see what a molt is watch the video.

The first two minutes shows how cicadas move around in regular speed. The rest of the video shows the molting at 25 times normal speed.

This is my first attempt at filming a time lapse of my Lasiodora parahybana (salmon pink) tarantula molting. A few things: 1. There is a quick edit where I readjusted the camera after it kept tilting down. 2. There are some flashes of light where I took pictures with a still camera. 3. My crawfish Logan has outgrown her old shell, and is now sporting a brand new exoskeleton. This is a process crawfish go through called 'molting', and this is the first time Logan has done this in my Betta Tank. Well she did it again LOL...she molted out before laying. All I can say is she is a huge girl, she gained some size with this molt. (The little bugs running around by her are Isopods if anyone is wondering LOL)

I decided to get a look at my largest female P. ornata "Clover"...she had molted about 3 weeks ago and I wanted to se her. She was claimed to be 10" when I first recieved her (i think 9.5").....she has molted 2X since then....her last molt was not a vfery good molt, she was a little skinny ad had curved back leg slightly. This molt, she lloks just hug and beautiful!!
