Botswana Wildlife Safari - 18 Wild Dogs just outside Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

After viewing some lions, we took a coffee break. Suddenly 2 groups of about 60 elephants in total came running out of the bush about 1KM away...this is the first group of 30 odd that came close to us! They came out of the bush quite agitated, we were not sure about, but when they saw us it was prudent to stay still and just watch and not further agitate them. Mike Penman from Animal Planet's 'Mad Mike and Mark' was our guide...he put us in all the right spots for the best game viewing!...

Moremi Game Reserve is a National Park in Botswana. It rests on the western side of the Okavango Delta and was named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe. Moremi was designated as a Game Reserve and not a National Park since when it was designated, the BaSarwa or Bushmen that lived there were supposed to be allowed to stay in the reserve. Abandoning the zebra hunt, the lions head to the water to drink, while keeping close watch on two cruising crocodiles. We mentioned a little while ago that the oldest of the Xakanaxa lion cubs in Botswana's Moremi Game Reserve were behaving less like little cubs and more like young lions (Panthera leo). They seldom join their younger cousins in boisterous play sessions, preferring to watch from the sidelines.

Many of the large islands in the Okavango Delta were originally formed by termite mounds.
